Rich Academic Experiences:

Providing a nuanced grasp of how to apply professional skills

Earning a Bachelors degree in Journalism and Public Communications from the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) in 2011 has emboldened my work with years of hands on training from award wining journalists.

In Anchorage I built on my years in the Radio-Television-Film program at the University of Texas at Austin (UT), As the son of two university professors, I have earned a comprehensive classical education. I began taking university classes in high school at Oregon State University. Examples of special areas of study include:

  • Journalism Ethics
  • Internet Advertising
  • Surveillance
  • the Qur'an
  • Communications Law

At UAA and UT I was a part of unique communications programs that emphasized not only a thorough grounding in conceptual frameworks but also a sustained focus on developing applied skills. Examples of journalism tools I excel with are:

  • Final Cut Pro - Video Editing
  • Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Bridge - Photo Editing
  • Adobe InDesign - Publication Layout
  • Adobe Audition - Radio Editing
  • Youtube, Vimeo -  Internet Video
  • Livestream, U-stream - Live Web Broadcast
  • Basic Web Design (i.e. this website)

  • Livescribe recording notebook
  • Phone Taps
  • Radio Field Recorder (Marantz), and Microphones.
  • Video Cameras (Canon, Sony and Panasonic)
  • Wireless and Boom Microphones
  • SLR Cameras (Canon, Nikon and Sony)
  • Fluid Head Tripods

My intellectual curiosity has been greatly enriched by my experiences in academic communities.  If you have questions lets take time to discuss my work experience, skills and education. I am happy to put you in touch with references including editors and professors.
